EP035: Intentional Leader Development at the Company Level
Podcast: Play in new window | Download
This week on the Leaders Huddle we are joined by CPT Doug Meyer from the leader development social media feed: Hay in the Barn Leader. Wrapping up his second command at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Doug shares his insights on creating and operationalizing leader development at the unit level that incorporates not only developing leaders, but the technical and tactical aspects of leadership that support the unit’s mission. Doug emphasizes leader development as a process, not a program. The process needs to be nested with the organization’s goals and the process needs to include all leaders in the organization. Doug’s strategy to creating a successful and effective leader development process begins with vision casting and starting with the end in mind. His goal is to create values-based leaders focused on standards. As leaders, developing leaders is our responsibility. We must be intentional about how we grow leaders in our Army in order to accomplish the unit’s mission and solve complex problems. If you’re looking to take your leader development process to the next level, this episode is what you’ve been waiting for.
