    I completely agree about judiciously closing your door!! Spot on, it’s inefficient and distracting. For me, closing the door was also an introvert recharge technique that I had to balance with the significant amount of extrovert-focused AG work that S1 requires (it’s alot of calming people down, and coaching many people through the same process over and over which is really exhausting until you start gaining some traction and getting some successes to counterbalance).

    Exactly what you did was what I would tell my NCOs- “hey, I’ve got to scrub the officer slate today before Command and Staff this afternoon, so I’m closing my door this morning, but let me know if you need something”. I’ll also add in here that working with good NCOs who read and understand you as a leader is part of this communication.
