Greetings everyone! I am actually in the middle of completing two different Career Courses. I have one resident phase remaining in both AG and LG course. I will share that in both courses I noticed if you complete the distance learning phase prior to attending you set yourself up to walk on to the next phase if the opportunity comes up. You can also spend your free time exploring the area and networking with your peers. My peers that had not completed the DL portion prior either missed opportunities and/or didn’t test as well because they were studying for two phases instead of one.

I would also recommend not using the Reserve/ National Guard card if you choose to wear ACUs instead of OCPs. A LTC came in and spoke to one of my classes about how it looked bad for leaders to still be wearing them. Saying    the wear out date isn’t until October is essentially the same as saying 60% is passing on an APFT, both are true. Even if that is your perspective, one is more visible to others and image is a small part of leadership in my book.

Finally, I would suggest if you do not volunteer for a leadership position, speak up. When it came to peer reviews it’s hard for your peers to rate you if they have no clue who you are. After my last class did reviews I can’t tell you all how many people I heard say “I have no idea who that is!”. Make yourself known, be kind, and work hard.
