I cranked through most of the MCoE reading list over the last couple of years, with my favorites being “Once an Eagle,” We Were Soldiers, Once and Young,” “Platoon Leader,” “Gates of Fire,” and of course, “Starship Troopers.” However right now, I’m slogging through “Rise and Fall of the Third Reich.” It’s not necessarily on any reading list, however it covers the rise of an enemy that nearly took over Europe and plunged the world into a Second World War, how it came to be, all of the tricks, and tactics used to bring it about, etc. It’s also opening my eyes to many misconceptions of things that people today just throw around, how evil can come to power, what happens when the military stands by and does nothing, and how good leaders need to be willing to stand and act.
