I am a firm believer in Drink and Think. I have always taken my peers and subordinates out to casual meeting locations, such as bars or breweries to conduct discussions, informal counselings and mentorship. I use it to demonstrate that we can engage socially, be productive and learn how to limit alcohol consumption. A lot of junior NCOs and junior officers never learn how to limit themselves or others, leading to UCMJ and discipline issues. These engagements enable them to see how I do it and develop their own strategies for managing their Soldiers and peers.
