ABLE: What is your response to the steadfastness of MacArthur’s insistence on the Inchon landing? How does it change, had the mission gone otherwise?

One factor that can separate a win from a loss is audacity. Obviously It is one of the 4 fundamentals of the offense used in small scale maneuvers, but one can also look at it on a much larger scale.  The entire operation of landing at Inchon was hinged on audacity.  MacArthur insisted upon it because he knew that it was audacious, and he knew that if it succeeded then momentum would start to pick up.  One of the reasons he wanted to land at Inchon specifically was that the NKPA would not expect it due to unfavorable conditions in that area. Even though there were better landing options, MacArthur decided to assume the risk in turn for his bold plan, which paid off.  If things had gone differently, I would say that I understand him holding fast on his decision. At that level, you need to make a plan you are confident about and stick with it.
