I’m currently a cadet at West Point, and one thing I notice happen repeatedly is that whenever someone in a leadership position (cadet or TAC team) implements a change in our regular routine a significant portion of those affected complain about how the change is unnecessary or harmful. Obviously not every single change is harmful and most are probably necessary, but how do I tell if my subordinates’ complaints are legitimate and not based in comfort? Is there a recommended time to wait before making any significant changes when you come to a new unit?
