Ray,
I did catch the guidance from the CSA, and I plan to pass it along to help other leaders understand their influence extends into the cyber domain. It doesn’t matter if you don’t want to use social media, your organization will and at some point, as we have all seen with trolling and other acts, it can become a leader’s decisive point.

abclark replied to the topic Getting the Most Out of Meetings (March 2017 JO Jam) in the forum Junior Officer 8 years, 1 month ago
Training management is a commander’s responsibility that is enabled by higher echelon guidance and subordinate “buy-in” or support through parallel planning/activities. Beginning with the battalion training meeting, the company commander is effectively selling his training plan to the battalion commander for approval and potential support from…[Read more]

Gents,
I have planned numerous CO STX lanes as an OC/T at the NTC. Feel free to fire away with any questions. I am TDY until Thursday, so I may not be immediately responsive, but am happy to help.

alanhastingsar replied to the topic Thoughts on a Sense of Urgency about Tactical Mastery in the forum Junior Officer 8 years, 1 month ago
Thanks for the reply. I think you are spot on in your assessment as to where our strengths lie. In the DA OE, none of us are yet experts because we haven’t acquired enough experience training and fighting in it. Time and iterative training are required.
That said, I don’t think that we can wait on time in the field and rotations to CTC to begin…[Read more]

Today I read an article that resonated with my recent focus on the relationships between tactical expertise, incompetence, disciplined self-study, and complacency among tactical leaders. In the article, the author writes that the US Army’s superior power and dominance over the past 70 years has profoundly impacted our culture and the way in which…[Read more]

My recent experience as an S4 or senior logistics officer for the Squadron placed me in a position of expertise and staff advisor to a commander. My lack of Army training as a logistical officer forced me to approach each field training event involving the staff beginning from the basics of sustainment to gain expertise in my staff section. My S…[Read more]

Tiara,
Great post about bonding/motivating your organization through physical fitness! I used a similar event while deployed to Ukraine; a half-marathon race in Lviv. After engaging my leaders with my completed registration form, my Troop began focusing on a challenging event to participate in rather than just maxing the APFT. I watched my s…[Read more]
