How early should you start talking to your branch manager and put them in contact with each other in order to line up the best possible success for PCS cycle and follow on duty station?

For those dual military couples who attended schools, what did your schedule look like? Did you both PCS and do your schools at separate locations at the same time? Did you PCS to one person’s school and then to the next? What did you do with your kids if you had them?
