Avoid snow-birding or black-birding. If you must snow-bird, then use that time to get as many courses done as possible. That buys you time later on.
For a logistics-branch officer (and certain of these apply to other branches as well), try to get Support Operations Phase 2, Petroleum Water Officer Course, Mortuary Affairs, Operational Contract Support, Unit Movement Officer, Summary Courts Martial & Notification Officer, HAZMAT (& ORSHA if you can), Air-Load Planner, Aerial Delivery Management (must be airborne). Some of these provide additional skill identifiers (ASIs), some of these buy you elective credit at ILE, and thus buy you some time or options.
Then there’s Air Assault, Airborne, Rigger and Sapper if you’re at the right posts/BOLCs and classes line up that you can try to walk onto. You can also use your Tuition Assistance to get started on your Master’s degree, seen positively by your branch once complete.
