When it comes to management vs. leadership, you could put a leader in a management position but not a manager in a leadership position. A leader would be able to find success in the new environment, being adaptable to the ever changing circumstances that are presented to him/her. A manager would be unable to do this. They rely solely on the “rank” or position they hold, using it to command others to do things, without providing clear purpose and motivation, making them unable to lead. Leaders can fill both roles, they can both be transactional (management style), and transformational leaders.
