Traumatic Events and Resilient Teams
This case study is about building resilient units that empower Soldiers to respond well to traumatic events. The video features the Physician’s Assistant and senior medical officer on the ground at COP Keating during the October 2009 battle during which 8 soldiers made the ultimate sacrifice, and which resulted in the award of 27 Purple Hearts, 9 Silver Stars, and 2 Medals of Honor. After the battle, the troop (B/3-61 CAV) still had to complete the remaining 7 months of its combat deployment.
