Does one mode make a difference over another?

– It does make a difference. Having a face to face interaction is better then an email or even a phone call because you can put a face to a name. Also, being able to see someone’s interaction in person can tell a lot about that individual, their passion, their dislikes their interest are many times reflected on facial expressions.

Does it make a difference when the leader is a staff officer versus a commander? An officer versus an NCO?

– At the end of the day we are all leaders in away. Someone is always looking and wanting to be like you or learning what not to do when they are in your position therefore communication is key regardless of rank.
