    @vanezzaospina@adam.szczypka

    We (my BDE) are trying the who weekly FRAGORD thing, and it’s a nightmare. From my observations it’s been completely reactive and inefficient. BNs to BDE “So you’re telling me to do something TODAY, that will be in a FRAGORD Friday?” BDE response, “Exactly.”

    It might be a little different since we’re a Guard unit, however the man-hours that those forms of tasking orders require is extensive and doesn’t have a very high return on investment. Tasks and suspense items are being missed; documentation and information is being lost because its spread between the 5 para of the FRAGORD, which after a couple of weeks, can be thirty or more pages long.

    Task 54 to FRAGORD 14 to OPORD 18-001 (STEADY STATE), which adds requirements to Task 15 to FRAGORD 5 to OPORD 18-001 (STEADY STATE), which requires you to have completed Task 11 to FRAGORD 3 to OPORD 18-001 (STEADY STATE), and Task 32 to FRAGORD 10 to OPORD 18-001 (STEADY STATE)… Seriously? (and yes… I just had to deal with this)

    How about labeling the item Mission Task (MT) 18-005… Oh, there’s an addition or a change? Change 1 to MT 18-005. Everything consolidated, changes and tasks easily tracked. Task complete? Then close the MT # and move on.

    Then answer I get when I (as well as 4 other company commanders, and our 3 subordinate BN S3s) bring up how inefficient and unresponsive the FRAGORD process is… “It’s doctrine.”
