    @vanezzaospina is absolutely correct. Seek out your counseling if you haven’t received it. In my experience it’s rarely been more than a check the block, “here’s where I think you should go next” sit down, and opportunity for the higher CDR to poor upon you some of the highlights of their own careers. With that said, it gets you seen; it puts your name and face in front of them; now they can match you to accomplishments of your unit.

    Now, that’s not to say I don’t completely believe in the importance of senior rater counseling; from above, as well as going down the food chain.     Don’t discount those QTBs though! (he typed preparing his own…)
