Just a few weeks back I was granted to opportunity to become a BN S1! I was so excited and couldn’t wait to start this new chapter in my career.

I was told I was getting a new NCOIC who had just arrived on island and although I did not know who this person was I, I was excited about that too!

Well…that all came crushing down when on my third day on the job I had to negatively counsel the NCOIC for disrespecting a commission officer (me).

Although we were able to address the situation and move pass that, the NCOIC’s performance thus far has not been meeting the standard!

An initial counseling has already been provided and I am aware of the 90 day assessment period but the question is…at what point can one address the fact that he/she is not cutting it for the position and it is hindering the shop, the Companies and the BN as a whole?

I am all for mentoring and guiding an individual who needs mentorship…but I also have a job to do and I do not want my team to fail because of this.

I am open for constructive criticism, guidance, mentorship etc…

Must share that despite this small obstacle, I am still excited about my job 🙂
