I don’t know if you are ROTC or an actual unit. Whomever is the Battalion Commander or XO get their guidance first and foremost. What type of event are they looking for? Will is be a formal dining out with no spouses or a regular ball that ends up being a drunken fun house. Take a look at a script someone has provided already and you can always tailor it to what you need. What type of unit will also depend on a speaker if you choose one, for me as a logistics guy we had the Sustainment Brigade commander speak at ours.  Location will depend on how many people you will have attending. How will you fundraise to pay for the reservation? Fundraising should start sooner than later. We could use some more information to help guide you through it.
