Not really understanding when peers or others have said that 90% of your time is spent on 10% of your Soldiers until I took the guidon.  It’s so true. I would always feel like something or some one was doing something to take away from me sitting down and planning the training we needed to prep for the next big BN event. Most of my time unfortunately was spent dealing with Soldier issues that ran the gamut from non-support to attempted suicides.

I never took the pre-command course because by the time anyone would have forced me to go I was already 15-16 months into an 18 month command. There was just no time to go before I took command and zero time during command. I thoroughly enjoyed it even though it had it’s ups and downs. I wish I had spent more time counseling my NCO’s and working much harder at CSDP. It worked but it was not how I envisioned it going.
