Of course that may not be as much from the message itself, as much as from the leaders who were using it for an LPD. By itself, the anecdote provides a lot of fodder for conversation, especially as it relates to…[Read more]

There is not much more to add, though I will expound on a few points. Please note that when I say “inventory” I mean the end item, and any COEI or BII.
1) Command Supply Discipline needs to be enshrined in policy (see the attached letter from my command days). Like all other policy letters, this is where the commander lays out their expectations…[Read more]

For those who are not sure how the new “Blended” retirement system differs from the current system, I’ve attached a 1-page PDF to help explain it. Â Additionally, here is a link to a story that explains it more deeply.

Matt,
When I was a Team Leader (PL) and Company Commander, I followed the recommendations listed in various command books I had read.

Vanezza,
Ray and Brock both brought up excellent points. A fun/different way of approaching this question would be to ask your Senior Rater , using five single works, what qualities he/she expects of a junior officer. This is a unique way of asking about his/her expectations of you, IMHO. Good luck!

I embrace storytelling. The stories I tell are based on my personal experiences rather than trying to recruit or sell anything. I try to shape the story to the crowd and intent of the meeting, though, so I make it informative or energizing or mentoring or instructing, as the case may be.
With folks who know the Army, I tell them more detail a…[Read more]
