Davbro,
The most important way that other branches should perceive Cyber Soldiers is as force multipliers. Hands down.
Cyber folks are mostly going to be perceived and stereotyped as being introverts, geeks, basement dwellers, and probably not being very physically fit; it’s going to happen. I consider myself a cyber guy AND I’m a former AG…[Read more]

Additionally, I believe team unity plays a big role. The more cohesive the team, the more receptive to change. This thread has some good insight on how to achieve both team unity and improve morale https://juniorofficer.army.mil/discussion/team-unity/

As a cadet at West Point, I often get the impression that once I become an officer, I am to behave like a stone-cold, uninterested person in regards to enlisted soldiers. I personally do not think this is conducive to building trust or creating a level of camaraderie that would lead to a highly cohesive unit. Once again, this is only an impression…[Read more]

@akademiks139 I agree. People seem to be more receptive when they know the plan. However, officers have told me that sometimes, your soldiers do not need to know everything.

bobzhu replied to the topic Common mistakes for PT? in the forum Junior Officer 8 years, 2 months ago
I am assuming you’re a cadet at USMA. If so, there is an entire course, PE450, devoted to the topic of unit PT. If you are interested in finding physical activities of a particular branch, please see the attached document (all credits go to the Department of Physical Education).

Wilton,
I wrestled with this question probably more than deciding what to branch. Ultimately, it came down to three factors, in order of significance:
1) The unit at the post
2) The surrounding area
3) The desire for something new
Having lived on the east coast/Midwest my entire life, I had decided that moving cross country was the optimal…[Read more]

Something that I’ve wrestled with since finding out my branch (EN) and post (JBLM) is deciding when the most opportune time to purchase a vehicle is. I live about a 15.5 hour drive from BOLC (Ft. Leonard Wood) and about 42 hours (2800 miles cross-country) from my first duty-station. Therefore, if at all possible, I would like to avoid driving a…[Read more]
