Alrighty…time for my FRG Hat!
As an FRG leader right now, the best thing I received from my predecessor was the leader continuity book. Â Ours includes the IRS establishment letter, account access memos from the previous and present commander, Assumption of Command orders, position assignment MFRs, and monthly audits for the account from the…[Read more]

Warrant Officers…they’re an officer who has been around the Army for multiple decades, has spent time usually in at least two rank structures (almost always enlisted, sometimes as a commissioned officer too), and sometimes even in multiple Components (USAR, ARNG, RA).
A Warrant Officer (WO) doesn’t quite fill the role of a Commissioned Officer…[Read more]

chofusionism Thank you for the question, I believe this is such an important question specially for new PL as well as new BN staff (BN S1 can be OIC and will have an NCOIC that will need to be counseled).

It is safe to say that having an effective FRG can help your command. This post will discuss 1) FRG principles and considerations, 2)…[Read more]

Thank you for your reply. I would definitely be interested in the updated information on the Army VCU and Supply Chain Management Program. I’m preparing to start my broadening opportunity but I want to be able share what is available based on the latest information.

It’s a little more than CYA, it also helps you keep grounded as a leader as to what the decision was. What was decided? What was agreed upon? I look at my own command guidance as an azimuth check for myself. Am I (underline) adhering to the contract? Am I (underline) keeping my side of the contract?
But you’re correct, the counseling, the…[Read more] -

Thank you for your reply. How is your broadening opportunity going, is there anything else that you can share about your opportunity that might be helpful to those who plan to pursue a similar track in the future?

Mandi,
Thank you for detailed response and congratulations on your track to teach at West Point. That sounds like a great career and leadership opportunity along with the grad school. What will you teach? Would you mind sharing your experiences during grad school and while preparing to make that transition to professor while also continuing…[Read more]

@pstofan, @rakimball, @chris_s – this is great input and advice for others!
I really like the putting 1SG’s sig. block on the Leadership Philosophy. It demonstrates unity, especially if you continually reference it throughout command (as you should). I also think you bring up great questions for reflection that provide a great framework for the…[Read more]

Okay, Brittany, here goes. Sorry for the delay!
BLUF –
It looks like you might have been denied transfer because commissioned officers need to be “fully qualifed in their branch,” which HRC defines as CPT post-CCC and KD complete. Since you’re going into your CPT board, you’ll need CCC and the key developmental position to be eligible to…[Read more] - Load More
