I believe that the frustration that LT. McDonough had towards 3rd Platoon was just. The lack of discipline of the leadership within this platoon caused a tremendously dangerous situation for McDonough and his platoon. This Platoon leader decided that getting sleep was more important than staying awake for the expected engagement wit LT.…[Read more]

Something that really stood out to me throughout this chapter sequence was CPT Moray’s leadership style, or lack there of. It seems that CPT Moray was putting in the maximum amount of work possible in order to avoid conflict and stay out of the friction. Prior to the Captain’s involvement, I did not expect that his leadership would be worse than…[Read more]

This is important to keep in mind, because decision making is a constant and reoccurring process as an Army Officer. Because you are…[Read more]

I think the LT McDonough’s approach towards becoming involved with his platoon was very beneficial. LT McDonough stood back for a moment prior to completely jumping into is position. This allowed him to gage the environments and personalities that he would be dealing with. When LT McDonough believed he had an idea of what he was getting involved…[Read more]

“Platoon Leader” provides a perspective to combat that one does not become regularly familiar with while going through training. While in schools or any other training environment, we practice, rehearse and familiarize ourselves with Battle Drills, 9 lines, patrol bases etc. because it is very likely that we will need to complete these tasks if we…[Read more]

Reading is a trait that will never particularly lose relevance. Through reading, one is able to obtain knowledge by reflecting through the accounts of others who are perhaps more experienced. The infatuation that I find with literature is that that words of the author do not change. The only alteration to the reading stems from the perspective o…[Read more]
