That’s perfect. There will be a good number of opportunities for you as a Chemical officer and a handful of Signal officers you can coordinate with regarding your future career course. Although it’s in Fort Bliss, enjoy your time in 2 ABCT.
Make sure you think over all of those lessons you are getting for free at Fort Knox. Leadership and me…[Read more]

Lydia,
Welcome to the Chemical Corps. As you are a testament to, this branch has had a long history of detailing officers in. Do you already know your unit of assignment?
I would answer your first question in two ways – first about how to get ahead in the chemical corps itself, and, second, about how to get ahead as a detailed officer, w…[Read more]

I believe we’ll all experience this more than once throughout our career. For me, the degree to which the rater and senior rater (SR) diverge dictates how I would handle this problem.
Minor discrepancies can often be handled by addressing the problem directly with the rater to adjust fire on expectations. It’s the major break-aways from SR’…[Read more]

Micah,
Some good stuff on your document, a few of them I did not think about when I made my 3 DITY moves.
One other thing I would add is to make sure you have a load plan. For example, I did not plan to unload EVERYTHING the first day we arrived so I made sure that I loaded some things last, like the kid’s bed stuff, pet supplies, some pots…[Read more]

Attached is my “top 10” list of tips from my move. I rented a truck and had a number of lessons learned that I hadn’t considered when I d…[Read more]

Good question… for work, mostly a variety of plans. Personally, I have two in the chute: “How the Gloves Came Off: Lawyers, Policy Makers, and Norms in the Debate on Torture” by Elizabeth Grimm Arsenault and “How Statesmen Think: The Psychology of International Politics” by Robert Jervis

Vanezza,
Your first question should be what their rating profile looks like. That is, how many officers of the same grade have they rated, and for how long. If they are honest, they should tell you whether or not they have room in the profile to award a MQ, or if there are those of longer tenure who they are saving them for (this happens – I do…[Read more]
