In the attached speech, Retired General Lloyd Austin stresses the importance of sticking to your values when in a leadership position, and I feel it has some relevance to developing a solid command philosophy.

I think it definitely stems from a lack of knowledge on our subordinates’ part about the entire picture. A way to determine the basis of their complaint may be to give them sight of the entire picture and study their reaction. People can say a lot without saying anything at all.

Here’s a good discussion that @perkinsjm posted a while ago about implementing combat-based PT into our unit physical training plans.
In a combat focused branch or unit it seems as though this would be most useful in terms of making PT plans.
