This is awesome, Gregory! Glad the training event was successful and you’ve got a mark on the wall for improvement, as well focus areas for future training. Thanks for the follow-up story!

@cale – I just rediscovered this post from last year about my comment as well. Thought others might find it interesting just as I did! https://juniorofficer.army.mil/discussion/relationships-with-enlisted-personnel/

Ray, I had a fascinating discussion with another officer today about this memo from CSA & SECARMY. Â This other officer proffered that TRiPS is better due to its standardization – no room for interpretation, a Soldier did the review of their route and was told risk mitigation or they weren’t. Â I countered that, while TRiPS is standardized, a f…[Read more]

I wish I had gotten more education / exposure to working with both NCOs and junior Enlisted. Looking back, it is something that is really best understood through experience, but I think I only was introduced to a few NCOs my whole time at West Point (and their job was to be in charge of me, less working with me). A really helpful experience that…[Read more]

Alrighty…time for my FRG Hat!
As an FRG leader right now, the best thing I received from my predecessor was the leader continuity book. Â Ours includes the IRS establishment letter, account access memos from the previous and present commander, Assumption of Command orders, position assignment MFRs, and monthly audits for the account from the…[Read more]

Warrant Officers…they’re an officer who has been around the Army for multiple decades, has spent time usually in at least two rank structures (almost always enlisted, sometimes as a commissioned officer too), and sometimes even in multiple Components (USAR, ARNG, RA).
A Warrant Officer (WO) doesn’t quite fill the role of a Commissioned Officer…[Read more]

@pstofan, @rakimball, @chris_s – this is great input and advice for others!
I really like the putting 1SG’s sig. block on the Leadership Philosophy. It demonstrates unity, especially if you continually reference it throughout command (as you should). I also think you bring up great questions for reflection that provide a great framework for the…[Read more]
