Have you ever logged your time? What steals most of you day, week, month? Most time management books will tell you to figure that out first. I can tell you what works for me, but you may be better at the stuff that slows me down. Figure these out and then do some research on specific tools to assist.

Someone told me once “you have one mouth and two ears, that means you should listen twice as much as you talk.” This has with me for over 20 years. As an LT, I would add eyes in there too. – Know your equipment: capabilities and maintenance status. Build a leaders book and carry it with you. Include a one page slide for the most common commo equipment in the BN. Be prepared to either give pages away or email them to others.

I agree they should learn leadership, tactics, etc, but they will get stuck behind their computers more than they will have leadership challenges. LTs need to be organized. Be in control of their computers. Get things from a green book to an action, a result. With this in mind:
