I saw a reply I liked and wanted to find out how to mark my approval. I didn’t see a “like” or “pie” option on the reply. I clicked on the user name to see if I could “like” the reply through their profile page. On their profile page it showed each of their posts twice and it also showed the html tags.

Tags at the end of a post are set to default to all. It would be better to default tags to none so the author would have to enter tags. Another option, if possible, would be to have tags only default to the same that were found in the body of the post.

craisler replied to the topic How do you use fitness to bond with your Soldiers? in the forum Junior Officer 8 years, 4 months ago
That’s obviously a little more difficult on the Guard side, but actually a lot more important. We don’t have the day to day interactions, so finding ways to stay engaged physically throughout the month is paramount to many of us for keeping up with our fitness.
Local 5ks and other races are the number one way of keeping up with each other. It…[Read more]

craisler replied to the topic Can Leaders be introverts? in the forum Junior Officer 8 years, 4 months ago
I don’t think I have much to add that doesn’t just echo what @cptchristopherprice has already said, but I’ll try. I’m an extrovert through and through, but that doesn’t mean I care anymore or am any better of a leader than my introverted peers. Some of my best friends are introverts!
As others have mentioned, it comes down to self-awareness. W…[Read more]

leromt replied to the topic How are you an Advocate for your Component/Branch/The Army? in the forum Junior Officer 8 years, 4 months ago
Brock,
What a great question.
I don’t try to “deliver a message” when I tell people what I do / have done for a living. I tell them my story…how I joined the Army for three years to earn money for college so I could then get “a real job.” I explain how in high school I always thought that the people who joined the Service were just too la…[Read more]

So you’re sitting on a plane (like I am now…) and someone inevitably asks you, “what do you do?”
How do you answer? (I did in my own way, but I’m curious about your answer)
Do you ‘wow’ them with your ROTC/USMA/LDAC exploits? Maybe some highlights from your last deployment?
Or do you take the opportunity to deliver an Army/ARNG/USAR message,…[Read more]

craisler replied to the topic More than one Branch within the NG/Reserves: Pros and Cons? in the forum Junior Officer 8 years, 4 months ago
In my state, dual branching is very common for this very reason. A few years back I had an FA BDE Commander who was also my full-time federal technician DOIM (boss) with our J6. The other option is to look for functional areas. I picked up a second company-level command, and a Major slot, as a Public Affairs officer (46A).
When trying to find…[Read more]

Want to know and understand why the Constitution clearly states that the government will “provide and maintain the Navy” while only “raise and support Armies” for no more than two years, visit Norfolk VA. The awesome power of Naval might on display is impressive.

And there is absolutely NO doubt that these massive beasts need to be maintained. While we ground pounding, snake eaters, like to think we’re all that’s needed to win America’s wars and project power, looking across the flight decks of a pair of Nimitz Class Carriers (Washington and Eisenhower), and about a dozen other cruisers and destroyers,…[Read more]

Just a “for instance,” did you know that the Ordnance Officer Branch Qualification (91A) can be earned through distance learning?
ATRRS course search; ORDNANCE OFFICER BRANCH QUALIFICATION (ODBQ), 4-9-C20-91A (BQ) (DL). This “functional/subordinate-branch” then allows ARNG/USAR officers to branch transfer at/after CPT to the Logistics Branch (…[Read more]

It’s the brutal fact that in the ARNG, especially within smaller states, you can quickly find yourself “stuck” and stagnant because of the limited promotion opportunities within your branch in that state. Similarly, in the USAR, you can be faced with the fact that in order to move up, you have to transfer to a unit that drills in ANOTHER state…[Read more]

Tiara,
Most ARNG/USAR units find they have issues with this sort of thing from time to time, and that is absolutely the reason. With ARNG/USAR Soldiers, you don’t have someone who is able to commit to the military 100% of the time. The very same thing that is ARNG/USAR’s greatest strength and makes “us” a favorite of deployed commanders, is also a…[Read more] - Load More
