My questions:
What is the reporting mechanism for standards met? Does DTMS become the system of record? As viewed at which echelon for review? Does the DTMS reported training readiness then influence the patch chart? resourcing/manning guidance?
Which Army units are the test bed for OBJ-T and what are some of the best practices coming from that…[Read more]

Tools. Tools. Tools. (and a story)
At one point, I had six FRGs simultaneously. They were kick@$$. The spouses did events. They were self-sufficient and even, when needed, self-policing. With the support of a FRSA all the admin was seamless and easy…
Then, I had one FRG, it was a struggle. Participation was low. There were really weird admin…[Read more]

Can you turn the “P” in LPD into “Personal” and do the dog-tag exercise, or perhaps the Great Teams exercise? This would help with team building and personal connections. Just a thought.

You may or may not be aware, but the Army has published TC 4-11.46 Sustainment Unit Gunnery and Live Fire Exercise Strategy. This a relatively new TC (DEC 2016). Chapter 7 goes through crew evaluations. I hope this helps.

Logisticus, what do you wish you had learned? If you could reach out and ask for help what would it be?

Teammates,
DRMO can be a great resource along with your PBO. While you may not be able to purchase everything you need to meet your training requirements you might find something that can be a combat multiplier through DRMO. Most supply personnel know of DRMO for turning in equipment that is no longer required or serviceable. However, one doesn’t…[Read more]

Leadership, what a loaded word. As junior officers the Army expects us to do it. As I think back to my OCS experience there is a lot about the day to day leading of soldiers that just doesn’t get covered.
I wish I had learned more about how to mentor soldiers. My job isn’t just about leading a mission but also about growing the soldiers I le…[Read more]

First, welcome to the profession! Being a platoon leader is an awesome experience. You will learn more about the Army in your time as a PL than just about any other assignment. I think its awesome you’re thinking ahead and planning.
I think you’ve hit the nail on the head, it can be daunting to counsel someone who has so much experience. It…[Read more]

Alrighty…time for my FRG Hat!
As an FRG leader right now, the best thing I received from my predecessor was the leader continuity book. Â Ours includes the IRS establishment letter, account access memos from the previous and present commander, Assumption of Command orders, position assignment MFRs, and monthly audits for the account from the…[Read more]
